The first of a trilogy, this book is partly autobiographical. It depicts a Jewish family’s trials when escaping World War II Germany. The main character, Anna, finds it difficult to keep up with understanding all the changes in her surroundings.
This book paints a historical picture of Germany in 1933. Those aged 9 and above can gain an understanding of WWII, the holocaust, conflict, and immigration.
