Throughout 2025, your support has enabled the Refugee Council of Australia to engage directly with Ministers, MPs, Senators and government officials to progress solutions aligned with our Vision for the 48th Parliament.

Your support allows the Refugee Council of Australia (RCOA) to maintain an independent, trusted presence in Parliament, bringing evidence, lived experience and sector expertise directly into the rooms where decisions about people’s lives are made.
RCOA also welcomed the re-establishment of a Parliamentary Friends of Refugees Group for the 48th Parliament, co-chaired by Sarah Witty MP (ALP), Senator Paul Scarr (LNP), Senator David Shoebridge (Greens) and Allegra Spender MP (Independent). The group includes more than 20 MPs and Senators.
RCOA’s advocacy helped rebuild this cross-party forum, strengthening parliamentary engagement on refugee protection and settlement. In 2026, the group also played a key role in marking the milestone of one million refugees welcomed to Australia since the end of World War II.
