Your support makes it possible for us to advocate for an Australia that is fair, compassionate and welcoming. It helps create opportunities for people from refugee backgrounds to participate in conversations and decisions that affect their lives, while bringing communities together and promoting practical solutions. In this issue of Your Voice, you’ll read about some of the advocacy, collaboration and community building you’ve helped make possible.
Over the last few months, we’ve been part of important conversations with federal and state governments and facilitated dialogue between refugee leaders and parliamentarians in Canberra. Thanks to your support, people from refugee backgrounds have been able to share their perspectives directly with national decision makers.
We also continued our international work as Australia’s sole NGO representative at the 2026 Consultations on Resettlement and Complementary Pathways (CRCP) in Geneva. Through your support, we were able to bring together a range of stakeholder perspectives and contribute to important international discussions at a pivotal time for refugee protection.
During Refugee Week, we were delighted to be involved in two significant launches: Australia’s first refugee-themed stamp and Sanctuary Runners Australia. The former celebrated the million refugees welcomed to Australia and the 75th anniversary of the Refugee Convention, while the latter is creating opportunities for refugees, people seeking asylum and local communities to connect though walking and running together.
Whether in Parliament or in our local parks, we believe that opportunities to create moments of meaningful human connection are vital. At a time when refugee resettlement opportunities are declining globally, Australia will continue to face important questions about the role it will play in offering protection and inclusion to those seeking safety.
