Dr Toni Maldari has worked in refugee health for the past 12 years. She has previous experience working in rural and urban general practice and in Aboriginal health. Dr Maldari is currently the GP consultant at the Refugee Health Service (RHS) – formerly the Migrant Health Service — which is the state funded specialist service for newly arrived people from refugee and asylum seeking background in Adelaide.
The RHS multi-disciplinary team provide holistic person centred care for families and individuals with complex health needs including; disability, chronic disease and mental health. As the GP consultant, Toni leads the clinical team in providing comprehensive evidence based health screening and ongoing primary care.
In the last 6 years the RHS team have experienced an increase in the number of individuals with disability and chronic disease. In her role at the RHS Toni has led the development of clinical pathways for people living with disability and she continues to advocate for equitable access to health care for refugee back ground clients.
