Hani Abdile is a Somali writer and spoken word poet who fled the civil war treaty apart Somalia the last two decades and made her way to Australia by boat where she spent 11 months behind the fence.
While detained Hani found healing in writing poetry. Hani is an honorary member of PEN, a lead writer for Writing Through Fences, and has received various awards for her community work and many achievements since being released from immigration detention.
Her first book “I WILL RISE” has been published by Writing Through Fences.
