In 2020, the Federal Court of Australia was found to have published the information of refugees in the courts.In 2014, the Australian Government published the information of some refugees on a website. This page provides information for those affected by these ‘data breaches’.

The Federal Court data breach

This factsheet is published by Refugee Advice & Casework Service (RACS). It was updated in April 2020.

On 31 March 2020, the Federal Court of Australia confirmed that the names and details of around 400 people with cases currently in the Federal Circuit Court (FCC) and Federal Court of Australia (FCA) were published on the Commonwealth Courts Portal. This factsheet tells you what to do if you were one of these people.
