Mezhgan Alizadah is employed as a bi-cultural worker at Primary Care Connect in Shepparton. Her primary role is to engage with female clients from an Afghan background (not exclusively). This role aims to improve access through language and cultural support, case management and health literacy for individuals, families and groups.
Her role also provides cultural and language support to the refugee health nurses and refugee trauma counsellors within the Refugee Services team. Mezhgan is currently working on the “Khanuma” (Women) program funded by Victorian Women’s Benevolent Trust alongside one of our refugee trauma counsellors. This program is designed to improve the lives of local Afghan women who are socially isolated and are living with health and mental health issues.
