Susanne Schmeidl

Susanne Schmeidl is a Lecturer in Development and member of the newly established Forced Migration Research Network at UNSW Australia. She is scholar-practitioner with twenty years practical experience at the intersection of peace, security and development.

Until the end of 2014, she worked for over a decade in Afghanistan. Trained in social work and sociology her research has focussed in the areas of early warning and conflict prevention, forced migration and civilian peacebuilding. Her research on the drivers of forced displacement has spanned three decades aimed at finding ways to address the underlying dynamics that force people to flee their homes.
