People seeking asylum and refugees who hold temporary protection visas are not able to access government support to attend university or TAFE. This means that it is very expensive for these people to go to university or TAFE.
Universities across Australia have, however, been offering scholarships to these people. This has usually been through the efforts of people within institutions, as well as generous support from individuals and organisations. The Refugee Education Special Interest Group has played a very important role in organising scholarships.
The scholarship database has now moved to the Refugee Education Special Interest Group website. You can find information about current scholarships on offer there.
