At the end of June 2020, an estimated 40,630 people from Myanmar were living in Australia. Most of these came through Australia’s Refugee and Humanitarian Program.

For more than a decade, Myanmar has been one of the top three countries of origin for Australia’s resettlement program for refugees.

How do refugees come to Australia?

Since 2006, Australia has resettled more than 27,000 Myanmar refugees, including under the Special Humanitarian Program. The graph below shows the number of refugees resettled in Australia since 2006.
