The Albanese Government’s reforms to the Protection Visa system are a step forward. However, additional resources and support for people seeking protection facing homelessness, hunger, and poverty are essential to fully realise these reforms and ensure people can meet their basic needs. People seeking asylum should have access to work rights, healthcare, and, if needed, financial support while their cases are assessed.
