The Asylum Seeker Vocational Education Training (ASVET) program is a Victorian State Government funded initiative to support up to 3000 people seeking asylum and refugees to gain access to Government-subsidised VET courses until June 2018.

Under this initiative, the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre will directly refer up to 1000 eligible applicants to Government subsidised training courses as listed on the Skills First Victoria website.

From January 2017, TAFEs and Learn Locals will be able to directly enrol up to 2000 eligible people. Private training organisations (RTOs) will still require a referral from the ASRC to enrol students into VET courses.

A number of other supports have also been put in place for some students enrolled in an RTO.
