Upcoming Sanctuary Runners events in Sydney and Adelaide

Sanctuary Runners Australia is encouraging newcomers to Australia and Australians of all backgrounds to run or walk together to build friendship and connection and improve their physical and mental health. Activities are free and open to anyone of any level of fitness.

On Saturday 22 August 2026, you can join us at one of two parkruns:

On the following two Saturdays – 29 August and 5 September – we will again be at the Casula Parklands parkrun and the Cooks River parkrun. The Auburn Botanic Gardens parkrun will not take place while the gardens host the Sydney Cherry Blossom Festival. We will return to having members at Auburn, Casula and Canterbury each Saturday from 12 September 2026.

In Adelaide, a Sanctuary Runners group was formed in August and participated in the Carisbrooke parkrun at Salisbury Park on 15 August 2026. The next Sanctuary Runners event at Salisbury is being planned and will take place in coming weeks.

The 5km parkrun events include people who walk and people who run, at whatever level of fitness. For those who want to join but can’t walk or run at the moment, there are positive volunteering opportunities at local parkrun events.

Anyone coming along to a parkrun for the first time should register for parkrun here. Once you register, you will get a barcode emailed to you which you can save and use at all future parkrun events. Registration and participation at parkrun is free.
